Klaipėda hosts contemporary music festival and baroque opera

Klaipėda is hosting significant musical events this October, including the 23rd edition of the 'Permainų muzika' (Changing Music) festival and a major baroque opera production.

Under the new artistic leadership of composer and conductor Vykintas Baltakas, the 'Permainų muzika' festival, running from October 9–17, aims to expand beyond traditional concert halls into urban spaces and communities to create an immersive experience.

Additionally, the Klaipėda State Musical Theatre will present George Frideric Handel’s opera 'Julius Caesar' on October 9, 10, and 13. Directed by German director Tristan Braun, the production features an international creative team, including set designer Sebastian Ellrich, choreographer Nicola Mascia, and conductor Rodrigo Calveyra. The performance utilizes historical instruments from the ensemble 'Canto Fiorito' alongside local musicians and dancers.
