Klaipėda municipalities receive Golden Krivūlė awards

The Association of Local Authorities in Lithuania held its 21st annual awards ceremony, presenting 17 ‘Golden Krivūlė’ awards to various municipalities.

Klaipėda District Municipality received its ninth award, specifically for strengthening ties with the diaspora and encouraging the return of emigrants. Mayor Bronius Markauskas noted that the ‘Global Klaipėda District’ initiative aims to create a welcoming environment for those living abroad to facilitate their eventual return.

Klaipėda City Municipality was honored in the category ‘For Strengthening Resilience to Future Challenges,’ an award established by the European Commission Representation in Lithuania. The recognition highlights the city's work within the Local Action Group (LAG) to address social, economic, and public safety issues. The city has also focused on civil protection, including securing equipment like generators and communication tools through the State Defense Fund to manage potential crises.
