Klaipėda State Musical Theatre to host sensory-friendly Mozart concert
The Klaipėda State Musical Theatre will host ‘Little Mozart’, an educational concert designed specifically for children with individual sensory needs and their families. Scheduled for September 27 in the ‘Maria’ hall, the event offers a non-traditional approach to classical music.
Instead of traditional seating, children and parents are invited to sit on soft mats, allowing them to move, explore their surroundings, and experience music through rhythm and movement. The program features works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and other composers, performed by theatre musicians Rasa Šimelionytė, Gabrielė Brazdeikytė, Viktė Nabažienė, and Margarita Filipova, with storytelling by Monika Longo.
The theatre collaborated with the Klaipėda autism association ‘Lietaus vaikai’ to ensure the event meets the specific challenges faced by families raising children with sensory sensitivities. Diana Stadalninkė, head of ‘Lietaus vaikai’, emphasized the importance of such inclusive spaces where children can express emotions through movement or sound without fear of social judgment.
