Klaipėda to host Kant Days philosophical festival

The “Kant Days in Klaipėda” philosophical festival is scheduled to take place from October 12 to 18, 2026, across various locations in the city. Organized by the Immanuel Kant Public Library, the event aims to explore the philosophy of Immanuel Kant in the context of contemporary issues such as disinformation, artificial intelligence, and social responsibility.

A central highlight is the international conference on October 13, titled “Community, Duty, Public Reason: I. Kant and Social Responsibility.” The conference will feature Lithuanian and international scholars, including Dr. Shawn Christopher Vigil from Charles University in the Czech Republic and Professor Algis Mickūnas from Ohio University. Discussions will focus on whether Kant’s moral imperative can be applied to modern societal decision-making.

The festival program includes lectures, musical improvisations, virtual reality experiences, and creative workshops. It also features the 50th International Renatė Lūšis Watercolor Plenair, which includes workshops and an exhibition of works. Other activities include jazz music, excursions, and events specifically designed for youth to engage with philosophy and generative AI.
