Klaipėda to host sustainability festival focusing on renewable energy

The “Savos bangos. Tvarios ateities kūrėjų laboratorija” (Waves of Self. Laboratory of Sustainable Future Creators) festival will take place on September 5 at Theater Square in Klaipėda, Lithuania. Organized by the Lithuanian Maritime Museum and Ignitis Renewables, the event serves as an open-air sustainability laboratory focusing on renewable energy, the Baltic Sea, and wind power.

Participants will engage in interactive activities to explore how renewable energy is converted into fuel, including experiments with hydrogen-powered models and solar or wind energy. Klaipėda University and the Klaipėda State Seaport Directorate are participating to demonstrate the intersection of science, engineering, and innovation in future transport and energy solutions. The Port Directorate highlighted its transition toward green energy, including shore electrification and the introduction of green hydrogen to Lithuania.

The festival program includes expert discussions, creative activities, and music, featuring performances by the project “Perk-Unija” and singer Ingaja. The event aims to educate the public on energy conversion, storage, and sustainable technologies such as supercapacitors and fuel cells.
