Klapa Merla wins women's category at Posušje klapska festival
Klapa Merla was named the winner of the women's competition at the XII Festival of klapska pjesma held in Posušje, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The decision was made by a professional jury comprising Antonela Burić, Katja Krolo‑Šarac, Bojan Pogrmilović, Ivica Kaleb and Vlado Sunko after hearing nine ensembles.
The first‑place award, the “Posuški stećak,” was presented by Predrag Čović, president of the West Herzegovina Canton Government. The audience’s favourite was the group Liron, which received a statue from Croatian ambassador Veselko Grubišić. The second prize went to Klapa Frecija, presented by municipal mayor Ante Begić, while the third prize was awarded to Klapa Oršulice by Goran Kraljević of HT Eronet.
Performances featured groups from across the region, including Klapa Gratia, Liron, Merla, Oršulice, Puntape, Rozeta, Tamarin and Zvizdan. The event was hosted by Silvija Karamatić and Joško Lokas, with entertainment by Croatian chanson singer Darko Domijan. It took place under the patronage of Dragan Čović, president of the Croatian Parliament in BiH, and was supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the West Herzegovina Canton and JP Elektroprivreda HZHB. Organisers announced that the 13th edition will be held the following August.
