Klapuh family identity confirmed 34 years after war crime in Plužine

The identity of Hasan Klapuh has been confirmed 34 years after he and his family were killed in a war crime in Plužine, Montenegro. The Ministry of Social Welfare, Family and Demography announced that the three-member Klapuh family will finally be able to be buried with dignity.

In 1992, Hasan, Ferida, and their daughter Sena Klapuh attempted to flee from Foča to Montenegro, believing they would receive financial assistance from members of the Army of Republika Srpska. Instead, after crossing the border at the Piva River, they were removed from their vehicle, shot, and pushed off a bridge approximately 100 meters high.

Four members of the Army of Republika Srpska reserve were sentenced to 20 years in prison for the crime, though only one has served his sentence. Representatives from the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office and the Civil Alliance laid wreaths at the site to mark the anniversary. Milan Radović, Director of the Civil Alliance, stated that justice remains unfulfilled due to the lack of completed sentences and the absence of a monument to educate future generations about the event.
