Klara Lukan wins silver in Mediterranean Games half marathon
Slovenian athlete Klara Lukan won the silver medal in the half marathon at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy. Lukan finished with a time of 1:11:22, trailing only Morocco's Fatima Ezzahra Birdaha, who set a games record of 1:09:59. Croatia's Matea Parlov Kostro took the bronze medal with a time of 1:11:58.
Lukan, who entered the race as a favorite, noted that the competition was particularly challenging due to brutal weather conditions, including temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius and high humidity. This achievement marks the 19th medal for the Slovenian delegation at the games, including five medals in athletics.
Following this performance, Lukan is preparing for the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Denmark.
