Klaten Regency prioritizes Troketon Landfill waste management

The Klaten Regency Government has prioritized waste management at the Troketon Landfill (TPA) through the 2026 Revised Regional Budget (APBD Perubahan). Key initiatives include the procurement of an incinerator to process accumulated waste and the expansion of the landfill site by approximately 3 to 4 hectares.

Klaten has been selected by the Ministry of Home Affairs as one of 20 regencies in Indonesia to implement a “waste to energy” program, which aims to convert waste into electricity. The construction of these facilities is expected to take one to two years. During this period, waste management will continue using the incinerator to process existing waste in accordance with Ministry of Environment regulations.
