Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo named suspect in KPK corruption sting

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, Central Java BPK Representative Head Ahmad Luthfi, and private sector figure Muhammad Amin Wahyu as suspects following a sting operation in Klaten.

The investigation has identified five corruption clusters involving the Klaten Regency government. These include alleged bribery to manipulate BPK audit reports for the 2025 financial statements, procurement of goods and services, licensing, illegal levies, and routine deposits from regional agencies and business entities.

KPK investigators seized approximately Rp1.2 billion in cash, including Rp934 million found in a blue plastic bucket at the residence of the Regent's brother, Hanaku Agni Sadewo. Other seized items include Rp300 million in envelopes and 5,972 yuan.

Authorities allege that Hamenang received over Rp2 billion in fees from contractors, which were reportedly used for personal needs and to pay debts from the 2024 regional elections. The three primary suspects are currently detained for a 20-day period at the KPK detention center in Jakarta.
