Klaten Regent named suspect in KPK corruption investigation

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo as a suspect in a corruption case involving the Klaten Regency Government for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The investigation follows a sting operation conducted on October 15, 2026.

During searches of the Regent's official residence and several regional organization offices, investigators seized documents, electronic devices, cash, and jewelry. The corruption allegations span five clusters, including bribery related to financial report audits, procurement of goods and services, and mining permits.

In addition to the Regent, the KPK has named Ahmad Luthfi H Rahmatullah, the Head of the BPK Central Java Representative Office, and Muhammad Amin Wahyu Utomo from the private sector as suspects. The PDI Perjuangan party confirmed it has officially dismissed Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo from its membership following his designation as a suspect.
