Klaveness Combination Carriers completes CABU III fleet with MV Baltazar delivery

Norwegian shipping group Klaveness Combination Carriers (KCC) took delivery of MV Baltazar, the third and final vessel in its third‑generation CABU (combination bulk carrier) programme, from New Yangzi Shipbuilding in China. The 83,000‑deadweight, Marshall Islands‑registered ship is optimised for carrying caustic soda to Australia and returning with dry bulk commodities.

MV Baltazar features two wind‑assist “suction sails”, an air‑lubrication hull system, a shaft generator and an EcoEGR fuel‑optimised engine, delivering roughly a 35 % lower carbon footprint and higher earnings capacity than earlier vessels. Its entry brings KCC’s fleet to 19 CABU and eight CLEANBU carriers, and a naming ceremony is scheduled in Fremantle, Western Australia on 9 September.
