KLIA Aerotrain to undergo software upgrades
The Aerotrain service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is undergoing a two-phase software upgrade following 20,000 hours of continuous operation. The upgrades aim to strengthen system resilience and long-term performance.
The first phase involves field testing from October 8 to October 17, where software updates will be installed and tested under real operating conditions. Following these tests, the results will undergo an independent safety assessment. The second phase, involving permanent software installation, is scheduled for November 28 to December 1, 2026, pending the results of the safety evaluations.
During both phases, Aerotrain services will be temporarily suspended during standard engineering hours, specifically from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM. To ensure passenger movement between the Main Terminal Building and the Satellite Building, bus services will be provided as a contingency. Passengers landing after midnight are advised to proceed to the bus lounge and allow extra time for transfers.
