Klimaatstichting HIER announces sixth annual Klimaatweek

Klimaatstichting HIER has announced the sixth edition of Klimaatweek, scheduled to take place from November 2 to November 8, 2026. The initiative encourages residents across various Dutch municipalities, including Apeldoorn, Nijkerk, Breda, and Rheden, to participate in climate-friendly activities.

Participants can engage through several methods: joining neighborhood actions, organizing community events, or performing small sustainable tasks at home, such as repairing items, sharing tools, clothing swaps, or creating front garden greenery. A new feature for this edition is the emphasis on low-threshold participation, allowing individuals to share small personal contributions via the official website to increase the visibility of local climate efforts.

In addition to general participation, the foundation continues to seek ‘Klimaatburgemeesters’ (Climate Mayors), an honorary title for residents who inspire others toward sustainable living. Project leader Caroline Bloemers noted that the new format aims to reach those who wish to contribute but may find the official title of Climate Mayor too significant a step.
