Klinë: Girl dies after brother allegedly sets her bed on fire

A tragic family incident in the village of Poterq, near Klinë, has resulted in the death of a young girl following an arson attack. Authorities suspect the perpetrator is the girl's brother, a man reportedly suffering from mental health issues.

On September 6, the suspect allegedly set fire to the bed where his sister was sleeping. He then reportedly moved to another room and attacked their mother with a blunt object, causing her serious injuries. Both victims were initially treated at the Peja Regional Hospital before being transferred to the University Clinical Center of Kosovo in Prishtina due to the severity of their conditions.

On September 7, medical teams confirmed that the girl succumbed to her burn injuries. The mother remains in serious condition under medical supervision. The suspect was arrested and, following a decision by the state prosecutor, was placed under a 48-hour detention. Due to his mental state, he has been transferred to the psychiatric department of the Peja Regional Hospital, where he remains under both medical and police supervision. Investigations into the motive and full circumstances of the crime are ongoing.
