Kling AI spinoff prepares for Hong Kong IPO with new video model
Kuaishou Technology’s AI video spinoff, Kling, has released its Kling 4.0 model as it prepares for a potential standalone listing in Hong Kong. The new model doubles the maximum video clip length to 30 seconds and introduces advanced creative controls, including support for over a dozen reference inputs and up to 10 keyframes for granular control.
The release serves as a strategic milestone ahead of a projected IPO, potentially targeting 2027. Kling has shown significant financial growth, reaching approximately $500 million in annualized recurring revenue by March 2026. A July 2026 financing round valued the unit at roughly $18 billion, with reported participation from major firms including Tencent, Alibaba, and Baidu.
Kling faces direct competition from ByteDance’s Seedance product. To maintain its market position, the company plans to release a “lite” version of the model in October 2026, aimed at annual subscribers seeking less resource-intensive generation.
