German winter sports athletes face mixed results in Sölden and Klingenthal
German winter sports athletes are preparing for new seasons amidst varying results in alpine skiing and ski jumping. In Sölden, the men's alpine ski World Cup 2026/27 begins with the giant slalom. The German Ski Association (DSV) enters the season with a strong technical team, including Fabian Gratz, Anton Grammel, and Jonas Stockinger. Attention is also on 22-year-old talent Nickco Palamaras, who is set for his World Cup debut following a recovery from a cruciate ligament injury.
In ski jumping, the Summer Grand Prix concluded in Klingenthal, marking the 20th anniversary of the local jump. German athletes faced challenges during the final individual events. In the women's competition, Agnes Reisch secured 12th place, while Selina Freitag and Julina Kreibich finished 24th and 29th, respectively. The men's team also struggled, with Pius Paschke finishing 18th as the top German performer, followed by Philipp Raimund and Andreas Wellinger.
