Klinikk Asena faces allegations after patient develops sepsis following laser treatment

Bente Mauritzen, 68, was hospitalized with sepsis, septic shock, and kidney failure five days after undergoing laser treatment on her face and neck at Klinikk Asena in Stavanger.

Mauritzen had previously paid 78,000 NOK for a cooling treatment on her abdomen. When she saw no results after four months, the clinic offered alternative cosmetic treatments of equivalent value, which led to the laser procedure. Mauritzen reported that her skin appeared severely red and damaged immediately following the treatment.

Klinikk Asena's managing director, Hicret Alexandra Yerlikaya, disputes several of Mauritzen's claims. The clinic maintains that it has not been established that the laser treatment was performed incorrectly or that the clinic was the source of the infection.
