Klinikum Ernst von Bergmann investigates vascular surgery death
The Klinikum Ernst von Bergmann in Potsdam is conducting an internal review and an external expert assessment following a suspected vascular surgery-related death. The incident has prompted calls for clarification from the Health Ministry.
This investigation occurs amid broader structural changes at the hospital. Since August, the facility has ceased offering orthopedic and vascular surgery services, transferring those departments to St. Josefs-Krankenhaus and the Oberlinklinik in Potsdam. While the hospital management stated they are working to maintain specialist vascular expertise through coordination, the Health Ministry has emphasized that maintaining vascular surgeons at the Klinikum Ernst von Bergmann site is necessary.
