Klis Fortress and Stopića Cave mark significant cultural and tourism milestones
Klis Fortress in Croatia has welcomed its 100,000th visitor for the third consecutive year, marking a period of continuous growth for the Dalmatian landmark. The milestone visitor was a young family from Split, who received free entry, gifts from the Municipality of Klis, and a guided tour of the historical site.
In Serbia, Stopića Cave on Mount Zlatibor has become a significant tourist destination after being officially opened for visits in 2009. Historically documented by the Serbian Geological Society in 1901 and explored by scientist Jovan Cvijić, the cave is a protected natural monument. Local residents discovered the cave's connection to surface openings by dropping colored stones through holes in the ground, confirming the interconnectedness of the cave system.
