KLM to introduce new catering concept on European flights
KLM is implementing a new catering service concept, ‘Grand Café KLM’, for its European flights starting in October. This change allows passengers more variety in food and drink options, including the ability to pre-order meals or select items from a menu on board.
While the airline is moving toward a paid model similar to carriers such as British Airways, Lufthansa, and SAS, KLM remains one of the few airlines that still provides some complimentary catering on short-haul European flights. The free selection will continue to include coffee, tea, water, orange juice, and a stroopwafel.
Following several test rounds across various European destinations, the new menu includes paid options such as poké bowls, Caesar salads, salmon egg wraps, and yogurt with fruit and seeds. Notably, the previously provided complimentary cheese sandwich appears to have been removed from the free service.
