KLN implements risk-spreading measures for avian influenza

The KLN is implementing risk-spreading measures regarding avian influenza to protect the future of poultry and waterfowl exhibitions in the Netherlands. By coordinating with KleindierNed, the Ministry of LVVN, and the NVWA, the organization aims to prevent a scenario where a single outbreak forces a nationwide shutdown of all bird-related exhibitions.

To maintain the ability to hold shows and inspections in different regions during an outbreak, the sector is adopting stricter protocols. This includes ensuring that exhibitions are not organized too closely together or simultaneously in different locations, thereby minimizing the risk of rapid disease spread through animals traveling from various sites.
