Kosovo and Albania implement new safety and health measures

In Kosovo, Minister of Labor Andin Hoti announced the commencement of the National Council for Safety and Health at Work. During the first meeting, Hoti reported that 8,608 inspections were conducted over a seven-month period, resulting in over 290 work stoppages due to safety violations. To enhance oversight, the Central Labor Inspectorate has transitioned to a fully digital inspection system and will begin using drones to monitor high-risk construction sites and workplaces.

In Albania, Health Minister Klodiana Spahiu announced the appointment of Suela Popa as the new director of the Mandatory Health Care Insurance Fund (FSDKSH), succeeding Ilir Topi. The ministry aims to increase efficiency in public fund utilization and strengthen cooperation within the hospital system. Additionally, Deputy Erion Braçe expressed support for recent health ministry decisions, specifically citing the removal of a health operator director and the cancellation of a procurement procedure to combat clientelism within the healthcare sector.

Efforts to improve institutional safety are also being addressed in Albanian schools. Officials presented the School Safety Package, focusing on combating bullying and protecting students' mental and physical health. This initiative involves inter-institutional cooperation between the ministries of Health, Education, Interior, and Agriculture.
