Klopotec festivals spotlight wine heritage in Slovenia and Croatia
The 18th Festival Klopotec was held in Spodnja Kungota, Slovenia, where two different types of clopotca—Goriški‑Prleški and Haloški—were raised for the first time. Organized by the cultural society KUD Lipa and supported by local fire brigades, pensioners’ groups, schools and the parish, the event featured traditional music, folk performances and community celebrations of viticultural heritage.
In Varaždinske Toplice, Croatia, the 17th Klopotec ceremony took place on Breg Višogradu, organized by the local winegrowers’ association Sveti Martin with the town’s tourism office and municipal support. About a hundred visitors, producers and their families enjoyed regional wines, štrukle, grilled foods and live music. Mayor Dragica Ratković and association president Josip Posavec highlighted the festival’s role in preserving local traditions and promoting the region’s wine culture.
