Kluang, Malaysia: Teen Couple Arrested After Newborn Found Stabbed in Toilet

Police in Johor arrested a 19‑year‑old female college student and her 19‑year‑old boyfriend after a newborn baby girl was discovered dead in a toilet bowl at the woman's rented home in Kluang. The mother was taken to Enche Besar Hajjah Kalsom Hospital for treatment shortly after giving birth, where doctors also found she was pregnant with a second child.

Investigators retrieved the baby’s body from the toilet and noted several stab wounds. An autopsy is pending to confirm the cause of death. The case is being prosecuted under Sections 302 and 315 of the Malaysian Penal Code for murder and for acts intended to prevent a child from being born alive or to cause its death after birth. The male suspect was remanded in Kluang Magistrate Court.
