KMT leaders campaign in Pingtung against energy policies

Kuomintang (KMT) figures Cheng Li-wen and Pingtung County Magistrate candidate Su Ching-chuan held campaign rallies in Pingtung to criticize current government policies and propose local industry upgrades.

Cheng Li-wen criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for its inconsistent energy policies, specifically targeting the shift from a ‘non-nuclear home’ stance to discussions about restarting nuclear power plants. She also raised concerns regarding the environmental impact of large-scale solar power installations on farmland, wetlands, and local fishing industries, citing recent fire incidents in Linbian as evidence of safety and ecological risks.

Su Ching-chuan proposed several initiatives for Pingtung, including the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), biomedicine, and the ‘great health industry’ to upgrade the agricultural and aquaculture sectors. He also advocated for social welfare measures, such as providing free National Health Insurance for citizens aged 65 and older, aiming to reduce economic burdens on elderly households.
