KMT Yilan Council questions Lin Kuo-chang over independent director roles

The Kuomintang (KMT) Yilan County Council faction has raised questions regarding Lin Kuo-chang’s multiple appointments as an independent director across various industries, including power, shipping, and aviation. While Lin’s campaign clarified that his total annual compensation from three companies is approximately 1 million TWD rather than 2 million TWD, KMT councilors argued that the amount remains significant and questioned why the same individual is repeatedly selected for such roles.

KMT councilors, including Huang Cheng-ting and Yang Hung-min, have demanded transparency regarding the recommendation and selection processes for these positions. They have called for the disclosure of Lin’s meeting attendance records and specific professional contributions to corporate governance and risk management. Furthermore, the KMT has urged Lin to address potential political factionalism, specifically his ties to the New Tide faction, to ensure transparency in his candidacy for Yilan County Magistrate.
