KNAB investigates Apvienotais saraksts members over election activities

The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has launched a formal investigation into representatives of the political alliance ‘Apvienotais saraksts’ (AS). The probe focuses on whether recent activities in the Kurzeme region comply with the Pre-election Campaigning Law.

The investigation specifically examines the actions of Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs during a recent trip to Kurzeme, which included visits to various municipalities, businesses, and farms. KNAB will evaluate whether these activities constituted illegal election campaigning or if administrative resources were misused for political purposes.

While the political alliance described the trip as a regional visit to meet with entrepreneurs and citizens, Kulbergs has stated that he does not consider his official duties to be part of an election campaign. He noted that while colleagues invited him to participate in campaigning, he maintains his visits were regional in nature.
