KNDS postpones European defense IPO amid market volatility

Franco‑German tank maker KNDS, the producer of the Leopard and Leclerc main battle tanks, announced the temporary suspension of its planned initial public offering. The company said adverse market conditions and heightened volatility in European defence capital markets have forced a halt, with no new date set for restarting the process.

The IPO was expected to be one of Europe’s largest, targeting a valuation of more than €12 billion and the sale of about 20 % of the group’s shares. KNDS highlighted that it will monitor market conditions closely and be ready to resume once conditions improve. The firm employs roughly 11,000 people across 32 production sites in a dozen countries, reported €4.4 billion in revenue last year, and holds €33.1 billion in orders through the end of 2025.

KNDS’ decision follows investor caution observed in recent weeks, with analysts pointing to geopolitical uncertainty and fluctuating defence financing as possible underlying factors.
