KNE Festival held in Astakos, Greece

The 52nd KNE Festival took place on Friday, August 21, at the new square in Astakos, Aetolia-Acarnania. The event saw significant participation from families and various age groups.

During the political gathering, Nikos Papanastasiou, a Member of Parliament for Aetolia-Acarnania representing the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), addressed the audience. He discussed the significance of the festival's 52-year history and commented on current political developments. Papanastasiou criticized the strategies of the Greek ruling parties and their allies, including the US, NATO, and the EU, arguing that such alignments involve the populace in the risks of imperialist conflicts.

He also touched upon regional tensions, including the competition between Greek and Turkish interests amidst conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as the geopolitical rivalry between Western powers and the emerging Eurasian bloc involving China. Additionally, he raised concerns regarding the potential conversion of the former Agrinio military airport into a drone training center, stating it does not serve local public needs.
