New York Knicks owner James Dolan told the team in a video recorded on April 3 that players should consider giving up sex for about ten weeks to stay fully focused on the postseason. Dolan likened the approach to a Spartan sacrifice, saying it could give the team an edge.

Center Karl‑Anthony Towns, who is engaged to model Jordyn Woods, said Woods was not pleased with the directive. Towns told Complex that the team’s “whole message was just being locked in and not letting any outside distractions come between us and this championship run.”
