Knife assaults in Villach and Vienna leave two men and a woman injured

On July 5, 2026 in Villach, a 43‑year‑old Bosnian man attacked a 40‑year‑old acquaintance after a money dispute. He first cut the victim’s hand with a knife, then struck his head with a ruler, rendering him unconscious. The assailant fled with cash and the victim’s car, but was later located at his home in Villach‑Land and arrested. The victim was taken to LKH Villach; the stolen cash has not been recovered and a small quantity of drugs was seized.

The following night, July 6, 2026, in the Favoriten district of Vienna, a 29‑year‑old man threatened a 35‑year‑old woman with a knife after she refused to accompany him. He inflicted a light wound to her forearm before she escaped and a by‑stander called police. The suspect was apprehended in a rapid search; no knife was found, a temporary weapons ban was imposed, and he remains in police custody.

Both incidents are being investigated by Austrian authorities.
