Knife attacks in Paris and Lyon injure multiple victims
In Paris, around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, an armed man wielding two knives attacked pedestrians near Place de Clichy in the 17th arrondissement. Three people were injured, including two women with serious abdominal and lumbar wounds; their conditions were not life‑threatening. An off‑duty police officer quickly apprehended the suspect, who was taken into custody for investigation by the Paris judicial police and the national anti‑terror unit.
In Lyon on Sunday evening, a man in his thirties was stabbed in the throat in the Monplaisir district of the 8th arrondissement. The victim received medical care and was not in critical condition. Two known suspects, aged 37 and 43, were arrested shortly thereafter in a nearby street. Police continue to investigate the motive, with alcohol consumption mentioned as a possible factor.
