König‑Karlmann‑Gymnasium Altötting Wins Bavarian Youth Dialect Prize

A fifth‑grade class (5f) at the König‑Karlmann‑Gymnasium in Altötting produced a one‑minute‑51‑second film that earned the Bavarian Youth Dialect Prize. The award, worth €1,000, was presented by Bavarian Interior Minister Albert Füracker at the Allerheiligen‑Hofkirche in Munich. The film explained why the year’s theme “Dialect is Home” resonated with the students, quoting local expressions and reciting Helmut Zöpfl’s poem “A Buamahosntaschn”. In addition to the class, two other youth projects and seven adult prize‑winners were honoured during the ceremony.

The accolade highlights the school’s emphasis on regional language and cultural heritage, fostering community ties and linguistic pride among its pupils.
