KNSB national chess competition begins 2026-2027 season
The first round of the 2026-2027 KNSB national chess competition commenced on September 19, 2026. This season features an expanded format with seven playing classes.
The Meesterklasse and Classes 1 through 4 began a nine-round competition, while Classes 5, 6, and 7 are scheduled to join the circuit on October 3 with a seven-round competition.
Key results from the opening day include a 5–5 draw between Groninger Combinatie and Kennemer Combinatie in the Meesterklasse, and a 7–3 victory for Zuid Limburg against Paul Keres. In Class 1B, DSC Delft defeated Veenendaal 6–4, while in Class 4F, Schaakhuis secured a win against Moira-Domtoren 2 with a score of 4½–3½.
