KNUST Vice Chancellor Christian Agyare takes new roles

Professor Christian Agyare, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been inducted as Chair of the university’s Technology and Consultancy Centre. During a meeting with Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, discussions focused on advancing STEM education, research, and infrastructure. The Minister pledged government support via the Ghana Education Trust Fund to complete the KNUST Teaching Hospital and urged the university to increase graduates in science-related fields.

In a separate development, Professor Agyare has proposed renaming the Ghana Prisons Service to the Ghana Correctional Service to better reflect its responsibilities and attract more support. This proposal was discussed during a meeting with the Ashanti Regional Prisons Commander, Deputy Director of Prisons James B Mwinyelle. The meeting also addressed potential collaborations between KNUST and the Kumasi Central Prison, specifically regarding skills training, inmate healthcare, and agricultural initiatives such as aquaculture.
