Ko Chih-en apologizes for campaign staff handing out cards at funeral
Politician Ko Chih-en has issued an apology following allegations that her campaign staff distributed business cards to grieving family members during a funeral service. The controversy surfaced on social media after netizens claimed that staff members handed out cards to mourners, some of which reportedly included political donation account information.
Ko's campaign office clarified that while staff members did distribute cards, the intention was to offer immediate assistance to the family. However, Ko acknowledged that the behavior was “extremely inappropriate” and has instructed her team to exercise greater discretion.
The campaign also issued a firm denial regarding separate allegations that Ko herself requested photos with the family or explicitly asked for votes during the service. The office stated these claims are “completely untrue” and indicated they may pursue legal action to clarify the facts regarding those specific accusations.
