Ko Chih-en discusses Kaohsiung concert economy with Kuan Hong Arts

Ko Chih-en, a Kuomintang mayoral candidate for Kaohsiung, met with Kuan Hong Arts to discuss developing a ‘concert economy 2.0’ for the city. During the meeting with Chairman Lin Chien-huan, discussions focused on transitioning Kaohsiung from a mere stop on international concert tours to a primary destination for performing arts.

Lin Chien-huan emphasized the need for Kaohsiung to establish recognizable brand events and noted that the city requires more than just large venues. He highlighted the importance of mid-sized venues and the need for better infrastructure, noting that many current outdoor venues lack fixed roofs, which complicates the setup and teardown process for large productions.

Ko Chih-en stated that the goal is to integrate venues, transportation, aviation, accommodation, dining, and tourism marketing. She argued that success should be measured not just by attendance numbers, but by the ability to retain economic activity within the city after events conclude, turning crowds into lasting urban energy.
