Öko-Test evaluates 25 dish detergents for effectiveness

The German consumer magazine Öko-Test has released updated results from a study of 25 manual dishwashing detergents. Out of the products tested, only two received the highest rating of ‘very good’: Ja! Ultra Power Spülmittelkonzentrat, a private label from the German retailer Rewe, and Sodasan Spülmittel Lemon & Lime.

The testing process involved washing over 2,000 plates and specifically targeting stubborn grease deposits on heated metal surfaces. While many consumers assume higher prices or brand recognition guarantee better performance, the study found significant differences in efficacy and chemical composition. The Rewe concentrate was particularly noted for its efficiency and economy, allowing for a high volume of dishes to be washed with a single dose.
