ÖKO-TEST evaluates 26 dish soaps, highlighting top performers
The German consumer organization ÖKO-TEST conducted a comprehensive evaluation of 26 dishwashing liquids, assessing effectiveness against grease, efficiency, ingredients, and labeling accuracy. The study involved testing over 2,000 soiled plates and analyzing substances such as formaldehyde and potential allergens.
Results indicated that many products performed poorly, with most brands only achieving mediocre or weak ratings for grease removal without significant physical scrubbing. Only three products successfully managed tough grease, with two receiving a ‘very good’ overall rating.
Among the top performers was the Rewe private label concentrate, Ja! Ultra Power, which was noted for its value. Sodasan Spülmittel Lemon & Lime also ranked highly. The concentrated Fairy brand, which is available in Poland, performed well in cleaning tasks but received a lower overall score due to issues regarding its UFI (Unique Formula Identifier) labeling.
