Öko-Test evaluates facial creams, highlighting affordable options
A recent evaluation by Öko-Test of 32 rich facial creams found that high-quality skincare does not necessarily require a high price tag. Twelve products received the highest rating of ‘very good’, including budget-friendly options such as Lidl’s Cien ‘Tagespflege reichhaltig’ priced at 1.65 Euro per 50ml, and Alverde’s ‘Reichhaltige Tagescreme Bio-Wildrose’ from dm. Nivea’s ‘Tagespflege reichhaltig’ also earned a top rating.
Notably, all creams priced under five Euro achieved at least a ‘good’ rating, whereas several expensive products costing over 20 Euro per 50ml performed poorly. The testing emphasized that higher fat content in creams can help support the skin barrier during cold seasons, but price often reflects packaging and marketing rather than efficacy.
