Öko-Test evaluates hair care products and identifies top performers

A recent consumer study by Öko-Test evaluated 29 hairspray products, ranging in price from under one euro to nearly 17 euros. While more than two-thirds of the tested products were deemed generally recommendable, only four achieved the highest rating of ‘very good’.

The top-rated products, which were all natural cosmetics, included Alverde (dm), Alterra Volumen-Haarspray Bio-Papaya (Rossmann), Bioturm, and Eco Cosmetics Glanz & Volumen. These winners were distinguished by their lack of plastic compounds in their formulas.

The testing also highlighted concerns regarding specific ingredients. The laboratory analysis detected Galaxolid, a synthetic musk fragrance, in several products, including L’Oréal Studio Line spurenlos FX Styling Spray.
