Ko Wen-je political donations case: Court allows 250GB digital evidence review
The Taiwan High Court has granted a request to review digital evidence in the political donations case involving Ko Wen-je. Following a request by defense counsel Zheng Shen-yuan, the court allowed the copying of 250GB of digital files from a USB drive for review.
During a recent preparatory hearing, Ko Wen-je and Li Wen-juan maintained pleas of not guilty. However, Li Wen-zong, the former chairman of the Zhongwang Foundation, indicated a potential change in stance regarding allegations of breach of trust involving 8 million TWD in salaries paid to Taiwan People's Party employees, stating he might plead guilty once the scope is confirmed. Meanwhile, accountant Duan Mu-zheng pleaded guilty and requested a lenient sentence or probation.
The court conducted the review hearing in a closed session to protect personal data, despite the presence of three prosecutors from the High Prosecutors Office.
