Koala JP to host sleep competition in Tokyo

Koala JP Co., Ltd. will host ‘Mattrace by Koala’ on October 5, 2026, in Minami Aoyama, Tokyo. The event is a unique sleep competition where participants sleep on Koala mattresses to compete for high-quality sleep scores.

Using specialized equipment and medical supervision, participants will be evaluated on metrics such as sleep depth, time to fall asleep, and stability. The grand prize for the highest overall score is 2.22 million yen, inspired by the ‘Zzz’ sound of sleep, along with a Koala Mattress Supreme. Other unique awards include the ‘Deep Sleep Dive Award’ and the ‘Tossing and Turning Acrobat Award’ for unusual sleeping postures.

The event has garnered significant international attention, receiving over 45,000 entries in less than two weeks, resulting in a selection ratio of over 760 to 1. Due to high demand, a ‘same-day participation slot’ will be available via online lottery on October 4, 2026.
