Kobarid police investigate Italians for displaying Nazi flag and using fire

Police in the Kobarid area of Slovenia intervened on a Saturday evening involving a group of nine Italian citizens from the Vidme region who were illegally camping along the Soča River.

During the incident, the group used open fire despite extreme drought and high fire risk conditions. Additionally, they displayed a Nazi flag featuring a swastika. The Nova Gorica Police Administration confirmed that both the use of open flames and the display of Nazi or fascist symbols constitute legal offenses.

Authorities have initiated misdemeanor proceedings against two individuals. A 27-year-old is facing charges for the use of prohibited symbols, which carries a potential fine of 500 to 1,000 euros under laws protecting public order. A 23-year-old is being processed for violating fire protection regulations due to the use of open fire, with fines ranging from 200 to 600 euros.
