Kobe announces urban development symposium and inaugural skywalk event

Kobe City is organizing several initiatives aimed at regional revitalization and urban development. On September 13, 2026, a symposium will be held to discuss the future of HAT Kobe and the Museum Road area. The event follows an idea competition held in 2025 to envision the spatial development of the district over the next 10 to 20 years. The symposium will feature discussions on urban design and the potential of the HAT Kobe area, accompanied by an exhibition of winning competition entries throughout September 2026.

Additionally, IZANAMI Sports will host the inaugural ‘Kobe Skywalk 2026’ on November 28, 2026. This 10km walking event starts at Kobe Airport and concludes at Meriken Park, offering participants views of Kobe Port, the surrounding seascape, and aircraft takeoffs and landings. The event is designed to promote sports and tourism by allowing participants to rediscover the natural and cultural charms of the Kobe region.
