Kobe Bryant Day honors the NBA legend's legacy
August 24, known as Kobe Bryant Day or Mamba Day, serves as an annual tribute to the late NBA legend. The date is symbolic, combining his two jersey numbers, 8 and 24, and falling one day after his birthday on August 23.
Officially designated by the city of Los Angeles in 2016, the day honors Bryant’s 20-season career with the Los Angeles Lakers. During his tenure, he achieved five NBA championships, one league MVP, two Finals MVPs, and 18 All-Star selections. His legacy, often referred to as ‘Mamba Mentality,’ continues to influence basketball players globally.
Beyond his on-court achievements, Bryant’s influence extends to his footwear. After early career stints with Adidas and other brands, he signed with Nike in 2003, leading to the creation of his signature Zoom Kobe line.
