Kobe Bryant’s BodyArmor investment yielded hundreds of millions
Kobe Bryant’s investment in the sports drink brand BodyArmor resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars for his family. Bryant reportedly invested approximately $6 million into the company between 2013 and 2014, acquiring a stake of more than 10 percent.
At the time of his investment, BodyArmor was a small competitor to Gatorade. Bryant took an active role in the business, serving on the company’s board and participating in marketing efforts by co-directing advertisements featuring various professional athletes.
The company’s valuation increased significantly in 2018 when Coca-Cola invested $300 million, valuing the brand at approximately $2 billion. This surge estimated the value of Bryant’s stake at roughly $200 million, representing more than 30 times his original investment.
