Kobe business updates: Sawaya no Satsumaimo reopening and August openings

Kobe is experiencing various commercial changes, including the upcoming reopening of Sawaya no Satsumaimo Kobe Higashinada. The sweet potato shop, which had been closed for building reconstruction, is scheduled to undergo a renewal opening in early September 2026. During the construction period, the Nada branch has been operating as a temporary location.

In August 2026, several other businesses opened and closed across the city. Notable openings in the Sannomiya area include Gyoko Shokudo Sanbo, YOAJUNG, and Doutor Coffee Shop. Other new establishments appeared in Motomachi, Kitano, and Kobe Station areas, including chocoZAP. Conversely, several businesses such as Mother Moon Cafe and CoCo Ichibanya closed their locations in the Sannomiya district by the end of August.
