Kobe City Museum to host Tove and Moomin exhibition

The Kobe City Museum will host a special exhibition titled ‘Tove and Moomin Exhibition – Searching for Something Special’ from October 10 to December 13, 2026. Organized in cooperation with the Helsinki City Museum to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Moomin novels, the exhibition will feature approximately 300 items, including Tove Jansson’s early oil paintings, wartime satires, original sketches, and personal belongings.

The event is part of a broader cultural celebration in Kobe. The aquarium átoa will host a collaborative display of Moomin-related books and posters, and a joint ticket option is available for visitors. Additionally, a city-wide project titled ‘MOOMINxKOBE PORT TOWER’ will run from October 10 to November 30, 2026, involving various commercial facilities, hotels, and restaurants to create a Moomin-themed experience across the Kobe waterfront and Kitano areas.
